Who operates Makeratory
Makeratory is a Starr Studios product, owned and operated by Starr Studios LLC.
Information we handle
We handle information needed to provide Makeratory, including account identity information, workspace membership, printer and equipment information, filament and inventory records, products and bills of materials, production records, finished inventory, sales and finance records, support messages, Quick Capture notes and categories, private Quick Capture routing addresses, inbound email or carrier-generated message content and attachments used for Quick Capture, provider message identifiers used for duplicate protection, and service usage information.
Authentication is provided through Supabase. Payment-card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored directly by Makeratory. Makeratory may store billing status, subscription identifiers, and related account information needed to operate subscriptions.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure the service, authenticate users, isolate customer workspaces, process subscriptions, route private Quick Capture messages to the correct account, prevent duplicate or abusive submissions, send transactional messages, respond to support requests, monitor service health, troubleshoot failures, and improve Makeratory.
Quick Capture, email, and mobile-originated information
Quick Capture can accept notes created in Makeratory or delivered to a private Quick Capture address through email, including messages generated by a mobile carrier's text-to-email or MMS-to-email gateway. When you use this feature, Makeratory may process the sender address or phone-derived address supplied by the carrier, message content, supported attachments, delivery metadata, categories or hashtags, and provider message identifiers needed to route, secure, deduplicate, support, and troubleshoot the feature.
Quick Capture content is associated with the authenticated owner of the private Quick Capture address and is not used for third-party advertising or sold for marketing purposes. Your mobile carrier, email provider, and other services you choose to use to send a Quick Capture note are separate providers with their own terms and privacy practices.
AI-assisted features
If you choose to use AI-assisted filament label analysis, the content you submit for that feature may be sent through the configured AI service path so the requested analysis can be performed. Manual entry remains available when the AI feature is unavailable or not desired.
Service providers
We rely on service providers to operate Makeratory. Current providers include Supabase for authentication and database services, Vercel for hosting and application infrastructure, Stripe for subscription and payment processing, and Resend for transactional and inbound email processing, including Quick Capture delivery. Additional infrastructure providers may be involved when optional features such as AI-assisted analysis are used.
Cookies and similar technologies
Makeratory uses browser and session mechanisms that are necessary to sign users in, maintain application functionality, and understand service usage.
Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and operational records, meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention can vary by data type and provider. Account-deletion tools remove customer-accessible account and workspace data according to the product's implemented deletion behavior, subject to limited records that may need to be retained for legitimate legal, billing, security, backup, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect Makeratory data, including authenticated access controls and tenant isolation. Private Quick Capture addresses are designed as secret routing identifiers and should be protected like private credentials. If a private Quick Capture address is exposed, use the regeneration control in Settings. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, and customers should protect their credentials and use appropriate security practices on their own devices.
Children
Makeratory is designed for makers and businesses and is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account for a child under 13 or knowingly submit a child's personal information to Makeratory without first contacting us so the appropriate legal requirements can be evaluated.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as Makeratory changes. Material updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
